Mercy Health and Point of Life Behavioral Health announce an agreement to build a new inpatient behavioral health hospital

Youngstown, Ohio and Brentwood, Tennessee, January 18, 2023– (working wire) –Mercy Health – Youngstown And Behavioral health to the point of lifebusiness unit Life Point HealthToday, they announced that they have entered into a joint venture partnership to build and operate a new inpatient behavioral health hospital in the Mahoning Valley.

Mercy Health Behavioral Hospital will be a 75,000-square-foot, 72-bed hospital providing inpatient services to adults with depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, substance use disorder, and other mental health conditions. Structurally designed to create a healing environment for patients, this new facility will feature open, airy spaces with amenities that include spacious patient rooms, communal areas, outdoor courtyards, and state-of-the-art clinical spaces to support the needs of patients and families. Lifepoint Behavioral Health will manage the day-to-day operations of the Inpatient Behavioral Health Hospital.

Mercy Health and Lifepoint Rehabilitation, another Lifepoint Health business unit, announce Separate joint venture in May 2022 to build Mercy Health Rehabilitation Hospital, a 60-bed stand-alone hospital for acute inpatient rehabilitation. This hospital will treat patients with stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, complex neurological disorders, orthopedic conditions, multiple traumas, amputations, and other injuries or disorders that have affected a patient’s functional or cognitive skills.

Both hospitals are located in Mahoning Valley. Construction of Mercy Health Rehabilitation Hospital is expected to begin in the spring of 2023 and is expected to open in the summer of 2024. Construction of Mercy Health Behavioral Hospital is expected to begin in the summer of 2023 and is expected to open in late 2024.
