The Kansas City ChiefsExciting 30-27 victory over Los Angeles Chargers It came with its fair share of bumps and bruises. As the game progressed, infection updates kept pouring in, causing concern throughout the Boss Kingdom.
Several starters have been lost to injury, and this was after the Chiefs had already started the game for a short while, with wide receivers Mecole Hardman (abdominal disease) and JuJu Smith-Schuster (concussion) completely out of action.
Wide receiver Kadarius Toney, running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, safety Juan Thornhill and rookie linebacker Jaylen Watson all missed parts of the game or the remainder of the game once injured. As always, more information regarding the availability of these players is expected once the team returns to the training ground on Wednesday.
Many of these players have injury histories, which could affect their return-to-court schedule.
Clyde Edwards-Hellier’s high ankle sprain
Based on coach Andy Reid’s comments in the post-game press conference, the high ankle sprain Edwards-Helaire suffered in the first quarter is probably the Chiefs’ most significant injury.
“He’s a tough kid, but it just doesn’t look right,” Reed said. “High-ankle sprains on backs aren’t always the best. We’ll see how he does in recovery, but it’s pretty tender at the moment.”
Reid, who doesn’t usually provide much information on injuries immediately after a match, didn’t sound overly positive about Edwards-Hellier’s situation.
He was right about that, “High ankle sprains from running aren’t always the best.”
The injury involves damage to syndrome, They are the high ankle ligaments that connect the bones of the lower leg: buckle And the shin. There are two ligaments that the syndrome consists of, as well membrane between bones It is basically the connective tissue between the two bones. All or some of these structures may have been damaged by Edwards-Hellier’s injury.
A high ankle sprain is distinguished from a common ankle sprain based on the location of the injury and the mechanism of injury. A high ankle sprain occurs most commonly with twisting or rotational injuries — when the foot is rotated outward in relation to the shin. A high ankle sprain requires a longer period of time to heal and recover than the more common lateral (low) ankle sprain.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time for Edwards-Hillier to suffer ankle injuries. He missed some time in the 2020 season after a sprained ankle, as well as the 2021 season with the same injury. If the most recent injury occurred on the same side as these previous injuries, this can delay recovery or complicate rehabilitation.
Based on Reed’s post-game comments and the nature of this injury, Edwards-Hellier’s injury history, and the running back’s position – it is expected that Edwards-Hellier’s recovery will take several weeks.
If the Chiefs decide he will be out for an extended period of time, he could be placed on injured reserve, with offensive tackle Lucas Niang potentially ready to rise from the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list following his rehabilitation from a patellar tendon rupture.
Tony Cardius’ infamous hamstring
Some Chiefs fans likely met Tony’s initial arrival on the team by trade with some reluctance, due to his injury history. The beginning of Tony’s young career with New York Giants Hampered by recurring injuries, he played in just 12 competitions during his first two seasons before joining the Chiefs.
Tony’s career with the Chiefs started in dramatic fashion, providing an exciting element of speed to the offense, and a spark the team needed. He assured the fans that he was in good health, and Nahas the chief agreed. He recorded his first career touchdown reception in the 27-17 win over Jacksonville Jaguars.
Unfortunately, soft tissue injuries can be annoying and long-term, and that seems to be the case for Tony. Tony has missed Weeks 3-7 this season with a hamstring injury. Reid reported after the game that Tunney’s knee tendons “tightened”.
Hopefully, for Tony and the bosses, it’s just “tightening up.”“,” And not to re-exacerbate stress, which would cause Tony to lose time as the Chiefs late season entry into the playoffs. This isn’t the first hamstring strain the Chiefs have dealt with in 2022, as cornerback Trent McDuffie has been out for seven games with the injury.
It is possible for Toney to miss some games to allow more time to catch up so that he is fully available for the slot payout.
I look forward
As a result of a hard-fought win over the Chargers, the Chiefs may lose some key pieces as they prepare for a 3-7 showdown Los Angeles Rams. Edwards-Helaire is expected to be unavailable, with Toney very likely out of practice this week.
Not much is known about Thornhill and Watson’s reported injuries. Updates are expected from Reed because he has the media available throughout the week. Chiefs fans will also be watching the condition of Smith-Schuster and cornerback Chris Lammons, who are still in concussion protocol from the injuries they sustained in Week 10.
It’s a season in which Chiefs have certainly fought through adversity. However, they remain in prime position for the AFC West Championship for the seventh time in a row and are in control of their own destiny in the race for the top seed in the playoffs.
It may be time again for young players to step up and produce, as the Chiefs prepare to take on the defense Energy Champions.
